Gallstones Pancreatitis After Gastric Surgery

Gallstones pancreatitis happens when a stone from the gallbladder passes through the ducts and gets lodge at the opening blocking the pancreatic and common bile ducts.  If the stone fails to pass spontaneously an endoscopic procedure called an ERCP is needed to remove the stone follow by laparoscopic gallbladder surgery.  In patients with prior Roux en Y gastric surgery like weight loss surgery bypass an ERCP cannot be performed because the changes in anatomy.  Those patients require a Laparoscopic assisted ERCP.  Our surgeons were trained in this procedures during residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
